November 2013 - Present Day - Further Education Lecturer, Dundee and Angus College

 

Founder member of the Group Tutor Special Interest Group. As such attended and contributed to nearly all meetings and activities of this group. Strong contributor to the work of the group and created resources that were used by / available to all other Group Tutors in Dundee and Angus college.  

 

Took on the role of eChampion in Creative and Digital Industries. This role central to the moving forward in teams pursuing the digital agenda. This worked well with the Mobile Technologies Special Interest Group of which I am a “founder member”. Attended and spoke at regular meetings about topics such as Kahoot!; NearPod; OfficeMix; Augmented Reality!

 

As a senior Internal Verifier oversaw day to day supervision of the internal verification of SQA units. This included scheduling meetings, report results, taking forward new initiatives in terms of teaching and learning whilst maintaining standards and reporting to both internal and external senior management.

 

Acted as administrator of Dundee and Angus College’s Imagine Academy and DreamSpark facility for all staff and current students.

 

As the team Enterprise Ambassador took on the role of informing and encouraging staff and students of enterprise opportunities. Liaising between interested parties and seeking specialist assistance from college enterprise dept.

 

Active member of the Induction Rapid Improvement Event. Responsible for process analysis and the defining and implementation of the new business practice. One aspect of this being the new Induction process with associated microsite.

 

Encouraging students at all levels to take part in the Microsoft Technology Associate program. Championed uptake of the MTA project – 42 successful candidates in AY 14-15 and 43 successful candidates (to date) in AY 15-16.

 

Elected as the Staff Member of the D and A Board of Management. Attended almost all meetings and activities. Took an enthusiastic and active role in discussions and events. Represented D and A staff on all sub committees of the Board of Management.

 

Took a full and active role in CPD. Successfully achieved Certified Microsoft Innovative Educator status.

April 2008 - November 2013 - Further Education Lecturer, Dundee College

 

Delivered and developed numerous SQA and COLEG Units. Took a lead role in the prototyping of new curricular delivery formats eg. Online lectures, integrated delivery, establishment of formal Class Tutors with a pastoral/guidance remit for classes at all levels.

 

Took lead role in the development of the Computing Team Sharepoint portal: this included layout and design leading to implementation and evaluation of the resource.

 

Conducted trial to integrate various SQA units into a Project Based Delivery approach. This included conducting meetings with External Verifiers and members of staff, carrying out a post-trial evaluation and then reporting results to Computing Team.

Acted as the Departmental Move Coordinator during college move to a 2 Campus Estate. Attended meetings, conducted briefings, co-ordinated the packing and unpacking of departmental equipment.

December 2006 - April 2008 - Further Education Lecturer, Aberdeen College

 

Delivered and developed numerous SQA (NC, HNC and HND) and City and Guilds Units (Levels 1, 2 and 3). Acted as Assessor and Internal Verifier for both SQA and City and Guilds Units.

​

Responsible for the development of an updated system of Scheme of Work and Lesson Planning methods identified as Best Practice by HMI(e).  As a member of the Networks Team, I was instrumental in updating team subject delivery to Windows 2003.  My interest in blended learning and multimedia led to my developing the first Network Team podcast.

 

Lead author of the team's Program Review of Level 3 City and Guilds course in Computing and IT.

December 1999 - December 2006 - Further Education Lecturer, Dundee College

 

Delivered and developed numerous SQA and COLEG Units. As an SQA Qualifications Development Officer responsible for development and production of online assessment materials; and as an SQA Unit Writer responsible for the (then) new Information Technology Application Software 1 and Information Technology Application Software 2 units at HNC level.  In addition, as COLEG Unit Writer responsible for the (then) new Data Communications and Computer Networks unit at HNC level.

Seconded to the Business Development arm of Dundee College as a Training and Development Executive to cover an extended period of absence.  As an accredited British Computer Society ECDL Assessor successfully delivered ECDL with Dundee College Corporate Services.  Also took part in numerous European funded projects.
